Patient FAQ's

What is a subluxation?

The term subluxation is a technical way of saying a spinal segment or an articulation is out of it's normal position. It isn't dislocated, but can affect the functions of the nervous system which controls function of all organs, systems, tissues and cells.

How do I find spinal subluxations?

To find the condition of your spinal structure your chiropractor will take postural standing x-rays from the front and side view. The x-rays are analyzed by a marking system to determine the relationships of the structures being viewed.  Instrumentation is then used to pinpoint the exact location of the interference or subluxation. Using gentle manipulation called an "adjustment", the chiropractor removes the interference and the instrument readings return to normal.

Can kids benefit from chiropractic?

Yes. From the trauma of birth, through the falls and tumbles kids continually take, they are subject to the formation of subluxations. Regular chiropractic checkups catch any subluxations before they cause problems down the road.

My Chiropractor wants me to come in for frequent checkups. Why should I do that if I am pain free?

If you didn't have a gas gauge in you car how would you know when you would run out of gas?  In the body, if you don't check your nervous system to see if it is working right, then you have to wait for symptoms to develop and that makes the correction harder because of the length of time the condition has existed.

Is Chiropractic just for back pain?

No. Chiropractic removes the interference of the electrical system that is conveyed over the nerves. The nerves control all function so when the interference is reduced the function is returned and the body will be able to return function back to normal.

What other conditions can chiropractic help?

Chiropractic supports the body in healing itself. Chiropractic doesn't treat conditions but restores normal function that has caused the symptoms to appear. Medicine needs to name the condition to treat the effects, but chiropractic corrects cause resulting in the body healing itself.
